KATE FARQUHARSON
Biography
Kate Farquharson was born on 1st October 1988, in Sydney Australia and raised in the country town of Kempsey on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Within her cross-cultural family of English, Scottish and Sri Lankan Burgher descent, she is preoccupied with notions of family, place and memory. As a photographic artist Kate has cultivated a love for the ‘snapshot’ and it’s nostalgia, encompassing interwoven personal histories imbedded within the photographic past. This love is demonstrated through her working within archives and the family album in her body of work Bloodline (2009). Kate’s continues her preoccupation with family history in her current body of work Disintegration where she explores eccentricities and dementia of her late Great God Father Peter MacDonald Tow.
